Grave Status is a website owned and managed by Cemsafe Ltd – our registered
office is Dean Clough Mills Halifax, West Yorkshire, HX3 5AX. Any and all references
in this document to ‘Grave status’ means cemsafe Ltd.
At Grave Status, we believe in protecting the privacy of our Members' personal
information. This is a legal document that sets out how Grave Status handles
data which identifies you. You should read it in conjunction with the Grave
Status Terms and Conditions, of which this Privacy Policy forms part.
1. Emails from Grave Status.
Grave Status will never send you unsolicited emails. But there are some emails
that we will need to send you to provide you with a good Grave Status service.
These include, payment receipts, notifications that you have a message from
another member, reminders about your membership expiring, updates relating to
grave plots and guides on how to use the site.
Relationship Tree. We automatically send you Alerts when a tree
you are listed on has additional relatives added or information about the grave
plot associated with the tree is amended by the burial authority. These
are an essential part of the Grave Status service because they i) tell you when
people have been added to the site that may be your ancestors or relatives and
ii). They alert you to any problems with the grave that may require attention.
Without these emails you might never know a relative had added themselves to your tree or that the plot as been inspected for damage and stability by the
burial authority.
2. The information we gather and track.
Information gathered on registration. When you register for
the Grave Status Service, you may be asked to provide personal information,
This is information will be available to you, and capable of being changed,
through your “My Account Details” page.
Cookies. We use small files known as "cookies"
to enhance Members' experience of the Grave Status Service.
3. Sharing and use of information
The over-riding principles we apply are these:
(i). We, and (where relevant) our credit card processing agents,
will not supply your personal data to a third party for commercial exploitation
- thus, you can rest assured that we will not sell the lists of our Members'
email addresses to a third party; and
(ii) The only circumstances in which we will provide any of
your personal data to a third party for non-commercial purposes are those contained
in this Privacy Policy.
Members Information. The details you provide on Registration
are only available to you. Only data you have chosen to display publicly in
a tree or through a flower or tribute posting will identify you to site
visitors. These postings will never reveal your email address.
Emailing through the Grave Status Service. We do not directly
make members email addresses available to anyone on any screen of the Grave
Status Service. The only legitimate way of making contact with a Member on the
Grave Status site is for a Full Member to enter a message that we will send
on the Member's behalf. We will notify the addressee Member, using the email
address he/she has provided to us that Grave Status is holding an email for
him/her, and the Member can collect the email when logged in to the Grave Status
Service. Members may check and (if required) change the email address we hold
for them at any time through “My account details”. Members' personal
messages must not include their email address. Sent and received email may appear
in a Member's Inbox on the Grave Status Service for an indefinite period - we
do not delete it after any specific period. However, this does not mean that
we will retain your email forever; there may come a time when we will need to
delete some or all of it, for technical or other reasons. In this event, we
will endeavor to give you advance warning that we are going to do so.
Advertising. The Grave Status Service may include interactive
advertising for other businesses. We may use information provided by Members
to target advertisers more appropriately.
Burial Authorities information. All information relating
to a deceased person, a memorial, a burial ground or a burial authority can
be accessed through the grave status website by visitors. Personal information
relating to any individual member of staff will not be available to site visitors
unless this information is published by a burial authority on a burial ground
homepage that they personally manage, in this instance we will assume the burial
authority or publisher to be responsible for the disclosure of any personal
information
Credit Card information. Grave status uses Worldpay plc as
our payment provider. Worldpay plc offers a secure server, to process our credit
card payments. They encrypt Members' credit or debit card information and authorise
payment directly. This means that Members' full credit card details are never
revealed to us. Worldpay plc may transfer to, process and hold your credit card
information in countries either within or outside the European Economic Area
in connection with performing their duties.
Companies in the Cemsafe group. We may share data supplied
by you (or collected about you) with our subsidiaries and other companies in
our group, but only for the purposes described in this policy.
Changes in Grave Status's business. If all of the assets
which Grave Status uses to operate its business (or substantially all of them)
are acquired by a third party, we may transfer personal data we then hold to
that party so that the acquirer can continue to provide the Grave Status Service..
Place of processing. The personal information held by us is held on and processed
by computers situated in the United Kingdom.
4. Security
We have security measures in place to protect our customer database and access
to this database is restricted internally. However, it remains each Member's
responsibility:
to protect against unauthorised access to Your Details;
to ensure no-one else uses the Grave Status Service on that Member’s machine
while it is "logged on" to the Grave Status Service;
to log off or exit from the Grave Status Service when not using it; and
to keep his/her password secret.
5. Disclosure for legal reasons
We reserve the right to communicate any Member's personal information that
we hold to third parties which make a legally-compliant request for its disclosure.
6. Data Retention Period.
We will retain your personal data only as long as is necessary for the purposes
to which you consent under the Grave Status Terms and Conditions and this Privacy
Policy, or as is required by applicable law, and then we will delete it.

Grave Status Service, or your dealings with Grave Status, you can contact us

if you wish to request from Grave Status a copy of the personal data we hold
about you or a description of that data. Please note that by law we are entitled
to charge you a small sum for providing this information
8. Links to third party sites
The Grave Status Service contains links to other sites. Grave Status is not
responsible for the privacy practices, or the content, of those web sites or
any pages on the grave status site that are managed and maintained solely by
burial authorities
9. Data Protection Information
You can obtain further information about data protection laws by visiting
the Information Commissioner's website at www.dataprotection.gov.uk you can
search for our Data Protection Notification there, should you so wish.
10. Changes to this Privacy Policy
If we change this Privacy Policy, we will notify you of the changed document
in the same way as we notify changes to the Grave Status Terms
and Conditions
